Walk 4 remembrance

Dedicated to all those who served our nation and were overwhelmed by the battle within.

Let's take a walk 4 remembrance

Take part in the inaugural Walk 4 Remembrance – Supported by Currumbin RSL.

This is an opportunity for the community to come together to support each other, raise awareness to those veterans who have lost their lives to suicide, break the silence on mental illness and contribute to the funding of programs that are making a difference to veterans.

The walk is 8km and will commence at Gilltrap Park in Coolangatta and finish at Currumbin RSL to bring attention to the plight of veterans and the importance of mental health and support. As you make your way on the route you will be cheered by onlooking supporters and finally greeted with celebrations of your great walk and amazing impact you have made in the pursuit to raise awareness of veteran suicide and mental illness.

We are also now expanding this event to be a virtual walk, so you can be involved anywhere in the world and walk 8km at 8am on the 18th of April.

There is a bus service available to take you from Currumbin RSL to Gilltrap Park to commence the walk. The services have been donated by Palmer’s Coaches and will have services at 7.15am and 7.45am. Look for the big bus with a beautiful ANZAC wrap on it. Pickup point will be at the bus stop across the road from Currumbin RSL with parking available there as well.

Cor Infinitus plaque unveiling will be at the conclusion of the event, dedicated to all those who served our nation and were overwhelmed by the battle within.  Operation Cor Infinitus (Infinite Courage) is a National initiative to provide dignity and respect to those that have served Australia and taken their own life. As families deal with the aftermath of a loved one taking their own life, boundless love and strength are needed to overcome the questions and doubt that exist. Their hearts need to share rather than hide their pain. The families need Infinite Courage. Specifically, it’s aim is to establish modest memorials throughout the country dedicated to those that served our nation and took their own life, in order to give their families and loved ones that same dignity and respect as well as a tangible place of solemn reflection.

If this event has raised any issues for you, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
