WALK 4 REMEMBRANCE Supported by Currumbin RSL

After a very successful inaugural Walk 4 Remembrance in 2021 with over 230 participants, it’s back for 2022 and we would love for the whole community to be involved.
 
This is a great opportunity to come together to support each other, raise awareness to those veterans who have lost their lives from the battle within, break the silence on mental illness and contribute to the funding of programs that are making a difference to veterans.
 
The 8km walk will commence at Gilltrap Park in Coolangatta and finish at Currumbin RSL.
Palmer’s Coaches will be providing coach services from Currumbin RSL to the start of the walk at Giltrap Park. These services will be at 7:15am & 7:45am on the morning.
 
There will be 3 waves; 8am, 8:15am and 8:30am. You will choose this upon registration.
All funds raised will be donated to the Young Veteran Support Services so that they can continue to provide quality support and services to veterans. The program offers social, education and employment opportunities for young veterans.
 

Costs:

*Prices have now been reduced as future registrations won’t receive a t-shirt, as we are close to the event date. Please wear red or white on the morning.

Participant Fee

Fees: $30 per adult (includes free t-shirt). $12 per child (includes free t-shirt). Under 4 - FREE (no t-shirt). What your participant fee includes: - Walk 4 Remembrance T-shirt - Water Refill Stations - Endless encouragement and support from our volunteer group & event staff. - Safety Services: First Aid.

How do I enter?

It’s easy! Just visit the ‘Register page on the top menu, read through the details and follow the prompts.

Is there transport provided?

Palmer's coaches will be supplying coaches to take you to Giltrap park from Currumbin RSL. These services leave Currumbin RSL at 7:15am & 7:45am. Please ensure you arrive early to board the bus and the appropriate bus to do with your walk time.

Do I receive a confirmation of my entry?

Yes – an automated confirmation of your entry will be sent to the email address you have provided. You will then receive another confirmation email approximately 1 week prior to the event with the pre-event guide.

Do I need to be fit to take part?

You will need to be able to walk 8km comfortably, you may take as long as you like!

When do I collect my event t-shirt?

T-shirt collection will be on the 7-8th of April at Currumbin RSL reception.

What do I need to wear?

Participants obviously need to wear the appropriate outfit for whatever weather it might be. But probably the best advice is to check the forecast the day before and plan ahead. As well as wear your event t-shirt you get free with your entry!

What roads are closed for the event?

No roads are closed. This is an organised run/walk along the main pathways of the event location and as such participants are strictly advised to follow normal operating road rules at all times.

Are prams permitted?

Yes – participants with buggies/prams are actively encouraged in the walk. To ensure safe egress onto the main pathways, these participants are asked to start from the back of each start group.

Is personal accident or equipment insurance included?

No, While Event Organisers have their own public liability insurance, this does NOT include personal accident insurance, ambulance cover or equipment damage/replacement if required. Event Organisers strongly recommend that all participants take out their own insurance to cover these items for the purpose of participating in the event.

Can I attend if I feel unwell?

No, please do not attend the event if you are unwell in anyway or if you awaiting COVID-19 test results.
